Eternalsun Spire provide next generation solar testing, enabling solar labs and PV manufacturers to accurately measure the performance and reliability of all PV technologies.
A snapshot of Eternalsun Spire’s requirement
Paige Campbell, Director at Eternalsun Spire approached our team to design a bespoke digital imaging software that could effectively automate their imaging process and remove all sources of human error during the solar panel inspection process. In practical terms, Paige required a functionality whereby their workers are able to simply scan a barcode on each solar panel using a handheld scanner to capture an image. Following this barcode tagging, the photo is then auto-edited (cropped and straightened) and saved to file under the barcode reference with no need for human intervention, eliminating inconsistencies and errors.
Eternalsun Spire’s existing equipment consisted of:
- Nikon D600
- Zebra DS2278 2D Barcode Reader
- Dell Desktop PC (camera is connected to this via USB)
Some feedback from Paige:
“Within a short number of weeks, Halsys had produced a fully functional software package that met all our needs and were able to accommodate some specific small improvements on our request. We were also impressed that they were able to design this software based on our equipment, no hardware changes were necessary. We have been using this software daily since it was designed for us and it has resulted in lower operating costs for our company due to time savings from the automation in addition to removing any and all human errors from the process.
Our experience with working with Halsys was nothing short of excellent and we recommend them with full confidence.“
Greg talks us through the process:
“We already have the expertise to deal with camera integration, data capture and barcode tagging, so our team had many of the basic building blocks required for this project. As such, we were able to provide a bespoke solution within a reasonably short turnaround time.
We worked with Paige’s team to get it up and running, and after a few additional small adjustments, it is in daily use and working flawlessly. It has been a pleasure to work together with Paige and his team to maximise the efficiencies of this custom imaging software and it is always fantastic to hear how our solution continues to have a direct impact on lowering operating costs.”
